Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description



We are looking for a Security Engineer to join the NBCUniversal Security Architecture team, supporting a broad range of business units and enterprise initiatives.

This role is ideal for someone who is eager to grow their technical expertise. The Security Engineer will help ensure that security best practices are integrated into system designs and business solutions. They will contribute to projects involving network, application, cloud, and enterprise security controls, and collaborate with teams across the Cyber Security organization to support threat modeling, secure deployments, and ongoing solution resilience.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who can clearly articulate the value of cyber security initiatives and build trust with business stakeholders. Qualifications



Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience partnering with business and technical teams to architect and deliver Cyber solutions
  • Experience performing risk/threat analysis and modelling 
  • Good knowledge of endpoint security risks and security tooling
  • Ability to explain common threats to components including Network, Web and Application environments
  • Understanding of Security Control Frameworks (NIST, ISO27001)
  • Knowledge of OWASP Top 10 or CWE/SANS Top 25 
  • Awareness of Cloud Platform Security and controls, or interest in learning these areas
  • Ability to give and receive constructive feedback
  • Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously 
  • Ability to learn on the job and research new/emerging IT technology
  • Experience collaborating with remote colleagues using various means including project tracking, chat, and video conference programs
  • Excellent time management skills to appropriately prioritize multiple concurrent projects 

Desired Characteristics

  • A formal Degree is preferred, but relevant experience in the above-mentioned areas are prioritized
  • Experience using industry frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK
  • Understanding of various data and privacy regulations, including PCI DSS, SOX, HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA
  • Knowledge of common Cloud Services offered (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS)
  • Proficiency documenting reusable architectures for design patterns
  • Experience using diagramming tools to communicate secure designs and controls 
  • Experience with Atlassian Confluence & JIRA

  • Fully Remote: This position has been designated as fully remote, meaning that the position is expected to contribute from a non-NBCUniversal worksite, most commonly an employee’s residence.

This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
