Smart Turn Auto Repair is seeking **experienced and motivated Automotive Technicians **to join us and learn from our team of highly skilled technicians in Columbia, MD. We’ve built a reputation for integrity, quality, and exceptional service in the two years we've been open. With a clean, 5,630 sq. ft., temperature-controlled facility equipped with state-of-the-art tools, we’re focused on providing an excellent work environment.

Who We’re Looking For:

We’re hiring experienced automotive technicians .

Primary Responsibilities:

• perform a detailed inspection of each vehicle being serviced to determine any recommended services, attaching pictures or videos when appropriate
• efficiently diagnose and repair vehicles to manufacturer specifications -- brake and hydraulic systems, exhaust, primary and/or advanced fuel ignition, electrical, suspension and alignment, air conditioning and computer systems
• adequately document technical diagnoses, needed repairs and work performed on customer work orders
• road test vehicles as needed to ensure quality of repairs
• participate in training sessions and additional certification activities to stay abreast of rapidly changing automotive design and technology
• assist fellow technicians/mechanics as needed
• communicate effectively with the service advisor to explain diagnoses and required repairs in a non-technical manner
• maintain all certifications
• maintain a clean and organized shop and work area
• adhere to all company policies, procedures and safety protocols

**Work Schedule **(4- or 5- day work week):

• Three or four week days totaling 34 hours
• Saturday: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
• Overtime available but not required

Shop Hours:

• Monday–Friday: 7:30 AM – 7:00 PM
• Saturday: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
• Sunday: TBD

Required Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of experience in general automotive maintenance and repair working in a fast-paced shop setting
• a high school diploma or GED
• a valid driver’s license
• a clean driving record (no DUIs/DWIs/reckless driving charges)
• authorization to work in the United States
• an interest in continuous learning and improvement
• experience operating lifts, diagnostic scanning devices, tablets, shop software, computer diagnostic software, tire changers, wheel balancers, and alignment machines
• the ability to work quickly and efficiently to solve technical problems (usually without oversight)
• the ability to work as part of a team to solve complex technical problems when appropriate
• excellent verbal and written communication skills
• the ability to successfully complete and pass a background check
• excellent attention to detail
• integrity and good work ethic
• active ASE A-series or dealership certification or ability to become certified within 3 months of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

• successful completion of a formal technical training program
• active ASE L-series or dealership certification(s)
• Section 609 EPA certification
• Maryland State Registered Inspection Mechanic certification
• Certified Emissions Repair Technician
• experience with ALLDATA or ProDemand automotive repair/diagnostic software

Physical Demands:

This job regularly entails

• lifting up to 50 pounds without assistance
• standing, squatting, stooping and kneeling for long periods of time
• frequent twisting and bending
• frequent reaching overhead and below the knees
• frequent data entry and data lookup on a computer or electronic hand-held device
• frequent reading of small print
• frequent operation of a motor vehicle
