The National WWII Museum is currently seeking a Field Trip Educator. Working within The National WWII Museum’s Education Department and reporting to the Educational Field Trip Manager, the Field Trip Educator is responsible for facilitation for the welcoming and facilitation of students and their chaperones visiting the Museum as part of a field trip. This position plays a critical role in setting a positive and engaging tone for their visit, introducing the Museum’s mission, and helping prepare students for a meaningful exploration of WWII history.

Requirements

  • Welcome and lead groups of students ranging from 3rd grade to 12th grade in an engaging Field Trip experience.
  • Maintain order with groups of 50-100+ students and chaperones at a time. Assist in managing group flow and timing for arrival and orientation.
  • Deliver an engaging student orientation that sets expectations and builds excitement about the Museum visit.
  • Facilitate an interactive and hands-on artifact exploration for student groups during their visit
  • Help students connect to the significance of World War II and the Museum’s mission.
  • Coordinate with Educational Field Trip Manager to ensure understanding of group timing and needs.
  • Represent the Museum in a professional, approachable, and knowledgeable manner at all times.
  • Support the broader onsite and offsite programming of the Education Department. Provide summer time support to programs including but not limited to Normandy Academy, Student Leadership Academy, and School Outreach.
  • Participate in assigned task forces, staff committees, projects, assignments, tasks, etc. as directed by the Educational Field Trip Manager, Assistant Director of Student Programs, the Director of Teaching and Learning, or the Associate Vice President of Education

Qualifications

  • Bachelors required. Areas of study include education, history or public history, museum education, or related field.
  • Minimum of three years of direct experience working with students. Certified educator preferred.
  • Experience working with children or youth, particularly in an educational setting.
  • An outgoing personality with good public speaking skills and the ability to work well with people of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Excellent communication skills, particularly with K-12 students. Strong customer service skills, with demonstrated comfort and ability to interact with the public.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Punctuality and reliability, as field trip sessions are timed and scheduled. Willingness to fill in with other needs of the educational department as needed.
  • A willingness to work overtime during special events or heavy programmatic or visitation periods is essential.
